SENDAK,MAURICE. POSTER: [MICKEY AND ME]. This is a fantastic full color poster LIMITED TO 500 COPIES SIGNED BY SENDAK. Issued on the occasion of the opening of a Sendak exhibition at the Rosenbach in 1978. It measures 17 1/2" x 23", matted in fine condition. It shows a Sendak self-portrait waiving into a mirror in which Mickey Mouse's image is reflected waving back. This is a particularly fitting depiction as Sendak and Mickey were "born" the same year and "Mickey Mouse was one of the dominant figures of his childhood" (Lanes p.9). The poster is reproduced as a full page color illustration on p.[8] of Lanes book on Sendak. Simply wonderful.
