ORIGINAL WATERCOLOR: PETER PAN IN KENSINGTON GARDENS

RACKHAM,ARTHUR - IMITATION. ORIGINAL WATERCOLOR: PETER PAN IN KENSINGTON GARDENS. Offered here is an original watercolor by a talented hand duplicating a Rackham from the 1906 first edition of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens. The caption in the book reads: " After this the birds said they would help him no more in his mad enterprise." Peter is standing in the water with two swans. His kite has fallen in the water as well. A tree full of birds is prominent in the foreground. The image measures 11" wide x 17" high, signed in the lower left. Matted and in fine condition. Small differences in the details lead us to believe that this is not by Rackham but by a talented imitator.
