Illustrated by Crawhall with his wonderful and characteristic boldly outlined woodcuts, hand colored. It includes: The Babes in the Wood, Jemmy & Nancy of Yarmouth, I Know What I Know, Blew-cap for Me, John & Joan, George Barnewel, The Barkshire Lady's Garland and The Taming of the Shrew. Crawhall was born in Newcastle in 1821 and wrote and/or illustrated 17 books before he died in London in 1896.
